Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy helps your child build the skills they need to participate in everyday life — through the meaningful moments, routines, and experiences that nurture their development, identity, and sense of belonging.
At Divergent Therapy, we use these daily experiences to support your child’s development and independence in ways that are meaningful to them and sustainable for your family. We take a neurodiversity-affirming, evidence-based approach to therapy services, guided by best practice in early childhood intervention. In partnership with you, we tailor supports that reflect your child’s unique strengths and your family’s priorities.
We recognise that children learn best through meaningful interactions with trusted caregivers in the context of everyday routines and familiar environments. That’s why we deliver support in your child’s home, community, and early learning settings — equipping the important adults in their life with the tools and knowledge they need to confidently support their development within daily life.
Divergent Therapy delivers supports in your child's home, in the community and in their early childhood education settings.
How we can work together
At Home
At Divergent Therapy, we support caregivers to foster their child’s participation in everyday activities and routines within the home.
Providing therapy in the natural environment means more than simply visiting your house—it’s about supporting your child to learn during meaningful moments with familiar people, like getting dressed, sharing meals, managing toileting, and playing with siblings.
Rather than relying on special materials, we use your family’s everyday routines, toys, and objects, and with your provider’s support, you’ll choose the routines that best suit your child’s learning and development.
At School
Divergent Therapy supports educators to build their capacity to support their child’s routines within the school environment.
We work with educators to identify and embed accommodations and strategies into classroom routines to support the child’s learning, active participation, and foster positive association with school.
Partnering with educators and families in a collaborative approach supports teachers’ capacity to support a child’s learning through embedding early intervention strategies successfully into daily routines and activities.
In the community
At Divergent Therapy, we support your child to participate in everyday routines and experiences in their local community.
Community-based therapy goes beyond meeting in a park or public space—it’s about helping your child build confidence and skills in real-life settings, like visiting the shops, going to the playground, attending appointments, or participating in family outings.
With your provider’s support, you’ll explore the everyday experiences that matter most to your child and family, using familiar environments to support meaningful learning and participation.
