A message from the Founder…
I’m Ally, Founder and Principal Occupational Therapist at Divergent Therapy, and I’m honoured to be a part of your journey.
I’ve been supporting autistic and neurodivergent children and their families for over five years, and I feel incredibly lucky to do the work that I do. As a neurodivergent clinician, I care deeply about identity-affirming practices that celebrate and leverage the strengths of neurodivergent children and their families, while also acknowledging the unique challenges they face.
I'm a highly relational therapist, and truly value building deep connections with the families I support, and believe that strong therapeutic partnerships are the foundation of meaningful and lasting outcomes. Working closely with families and drawing on lived experiences, my aim is to highlight and amplify kids' strengths, and in doing so find creative, personalised solutions to functional challenges.
I have a particular passion for supporting daily living skills, with a special interest in sleep and toilet training for neurodivergent children, while always remaining respectful of each child's individuality.
I believe that the most powerful learning happens through everyday life – in the context of trusted relationships and meaningful activities.
My goal is to empower children who think and learn differently to live authentic, and fulfilling lives.
Our Approach
Supporting and Empowering Children and Their Families
At Divergent Therapy, we take a holistic approach to occupational therapy. We focus on the needs of the child and the family as a whole, not just the specific areas of concern. Our therapists work in partnership with families to develop personalised neurodiversity-affirming support plans that reflect the unique strengths and needs of each child.
Our approach is inspired by the works of Dr Barry Prizant, Ross Greene, Mona Delahooke, Dr. Stephen Porges, Dr Winnie Dunn, and Dr. Daniel Siegel, as well as the stories of individual families and those with lived experiences, whose unique journeys shape and inform our practice.
